Bin Chicken Mayhem Update: Early January 2019 (Beta V0.72)

Happy New Year to everyone following us! We hope you all had a great 2018, and wish you all the best for 2019. This will be a short/quick update detailing the progress of our game Bin Chicken Mayhem. If you are not aware, we have just entered internal beta testing as of build 0.70 and have been tweaking our mechanics to prepare for a soft launch beta exclusive to iOS devices. The current plan is to launch the beta at version 0.75, but as you know and are probably sick of us saying… everything is subject to change!

Anyway here goes the update!

What’s New?

Job Board

Super happy to announce that a job/achievement system has been added to Bin Chicken Mayhem. This is still undergoing major changes, but we will display what we have so far!

As a player, you will receive several jobs assigned to you at the beginning of the game (at the moment we’ve only added/tested a few). These will grant you XP and/or Bin Juice (in-game currency).

Note: XP and Bin Juice rewards are subject to change and may increase or decrease in value.

Mayhem Mode Updates

Mayhem has been a key focus area for us in the past month or so, we’ve really aimed at adding quality of life improvements that keep players engaged and happily playing! Mayhem has now received the following changes:

  • Real-time rewards
    • Mayhem mode used to reward the player whenever they ended their Bin Chicken journey. Now you will receive real-time rewards such as:
      • Double the amount of Bin Juice if in Silver Zone
      • Triple the amount of Bin Juice if in Gold Zone
      • Survive time XP bonuses
      • Travel distance XP bonuses
      • Bin Juice collected XP bonuses
  • UI Improvements
    • With the addition of real-time rewards came an opportunity to add instant feedback from the game. Our three-tier reward system will now display the current multiplier dependant on player position. This is rigged to an animation component within the Unity game engine.

Updated Effects

As you can see from the Mayhem UI showcase above, the saw ability has now received a ghosting effect which trails with the player until the Gold Zone.

Colour Scheme Improvements

The colour scheme associated with our game has been updated, the notification alert in-game has been altered to a more appropriate representation based on the multiple levels available to play in Bin Chicken Mayhem. This can be seen above in “Mayhem UI Showcase: January 2019”.
